Today, Dragon Copilot creates diagnoses for the Assessment and Plan using the ambient conversation captured during the encounter.
With this upcoming enhancement, Dragon Copilot will:
- Retrieve visit diagnoses directly from Epic
- Compare those diagnoses with its predicted diagnoses
- Return the most accurate and aligned diagnosis to the final note
This process improves documentation accuracy while keeping your workflow fast and natural.
How the Alignment Works
Dragon Copilot continues to generate diagnoses from the conversation as usual. It then checks those predictions against the diagnoses already recorded in Epic.
One of three outcomes follows:
1. Diagnoses Match
If Dragon Copilot and Epic identify the same diagnosis:
- The Epic diagnosis appears in the final note
- Documentation stays consistent across systems
- Your chart reflects the most specific structured diagnosis available
This scenario delivers the cleanest workflow experience.
2. Dragon Copilot Predicts a Diagnosis Not Found in Epic
If Dragon Copilot detects a diagnosis that Epic does not include:
- Dragon Copilot keeps its predicted diagnosis
- The Assessment and Plan remains intact
This supports documentation when the ambient conversation surfaces additional clinical context.
3. Epic Provides a Diagnosis Without Alignment
If Epic contains a diagnosis that does not match Dragon Copilot’s prediction:
- Epic’s diagnosis appears in the note
- Assessment and Plan content does not attach automatically
This keeps your documentation aligned with the official visit diagnosis while preserving chart accuracy.
